Imagine a sunny April morning. The sun is shining through a sea of trees. You can hear the birds sing in the treetops above you. You can smell nature in the air. You are standing amidst a crowd of people who share the same sense of anticipation and excitement. The second edition of the Fromanteel Generations Rally is about to begin.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to proceed to your automobiles”. A voice amplified by a bullhorn breaks the peace. All of a sudden, you are surrounded by the sound of revving engines. You smell the petrol. The rubber. You feel the vibration of a dozen cars starting all at once. The hairs on your arm stand at attention. Your navigator grabs you. It’s time.

Go Time

Inhale. Exhale. You strap yourself into your car and proceed to the starting line. It’s your turn to go. You’ve been looking forward to this moment for months. You look at your wrist to read the time. The Generations Rally Watch glimmers in the sunlight. You press down on the gas ever so slightly. Your engine purrs like a lioness waking from slumber.

You see the waving flag. Your navigator hits you on the shoulder. This is it. It’s time to battle for that first place. You know what’s at stake. Both of you want to walk away as the victors. There’s no such a thing as a second place. Not to you.

Stay Focused

You’re racing through a sea of green. Your navigator is guiding you through beautiful landscapes. You almost feel bad for not being able to stop and marvel at your surroundings. But there’s more at stake here. Sightseeing will have to wait. The competition isn’t stopping to enjoy the view either. You have to stay focused.

You’ve driven an almost perfect race. But you know you are not the only experienced driver here. There are lots of great participants, and they won’t give up until it’s over. Still, you cannot help but picture yourself on the podium. You’re so close. You can practically taste victory.

Your navigator speaks the words you have been waiting for the whole time: “The finish line is just around the corner”. Your grip on the steering wheel becomes firmer. It’s in the bag. There’s no way you’re going to lose now. Not with the time you set. You feel the last bit of adrenaline pumping through your veins. You can’t stop smiling. You hear a long, victorious roar coming from your right side. You’ve done all you can. Will it have been enough?
